Rawalpindi — Pakistan’s military leadership sent out a strong and clear statement this week regarding their firm commitment to take decisive action against any India-backed proxies operating against national interests, at all levels. This message came during the 263rd Corps Commanders’ Conference held at General Headquarters (GHQ) Rawalpindi under Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir’s chairmanship on Wednesday.
According to a press release issued by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), army top brass expressed grave alarm over Indian intelligence agencies’ continued sponsorship and support of anti-Pakistan elements, and promised forceful response against any attempt at destabilization of Pakistan through terrorist activity or hybrid warfare.
“The forum concluded that all attempts at destabilizing Pakistan through terrorism backed and sponsored by hostile intelligence agencies and their allies will be met with full force of the state,” according to an ISPR statement. There will be no concession on sovereignty by Pakistan’s security forces who will work tirelessly against threats wherever they appear.
General Munir underscored the significance of unity, vigilance, and taking a proactive stance when confronting emerging threats from across the border. He applauded recent counterterrorism operations conducted across regions such as Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa where several militants linked to foreign-funded networks were neutralized through counter-terrorism operations conducted there.
The Corps Commanders discussed the internal security situation and ongoing military operations undertaken under a broad counterterrorism framework, as well as hybrid warfare challenges such as disinformation campaigns, cyber threats and propaganda intended to break apart national unity.
Military leadership stressed the need for national cohesion against external threats. According to ISPR, enemy actors were actively working to divide our society, so “we must remain united, vigilant, and resilient against such conspiracies”.
The statement comes amid mounting tensions between Islamabad and New Delhi following a series of high-profile terrorist incidents that officials in Pakistan allege were orchestrated by Indian-backed elements. Recently, Pakistani intelligence agencies claimed to have discovered evidence connecting certain separatist groups operating in Balochistan with foreign handlers from neighboring countries.
Pakistan has raised India’s alleged involvement in sponsoring terrorism at international forums such as the United Nations and Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), providing evidence of funding, training, and logistical support being given by India to groups engaged in subversive activity. Pakistani dossiers contain allegations regarding this.
Recent weeks have also witnessed an alarming increase in cross-border incidents and ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC), further straining bilateral relations. Pakistan’s military’s firm response shows its intention not to tolerate any breach to their sovereignty or security.
Political analysts assert that the army’s renewed resolve reflects a broader national strategy to confront threats unifiedly. “This is more than a military issue; it is vital for national survival and stability,” noted Brigadier (Retd) Asad Mahmood of Security Watch USA.
As the regional security landscape has continued to shift, Pakistan Army officials have signaled their readiness to take preemptive and reactive actions against any hostile elements – domestic or foreign– that threaten the country.:
